About the Role
Matter Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Medical Director to provide physician leadership across our Northeast markets. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with operational and clinical leaders to support care delivery, elevate provider performance, advance quality initiatives, and drive ongoing market growth.
Our physicians serve older adults residing in affordable housing communities—many of whom face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven physician leader, passionate about improving outcomes for underserved populations and supporting providers and clinical teams across multiple markets.
As Regional Medical Director, you will be a key clinical leader, charged with ensuring exceptional care delivery while advancing clinical strategy, provider engagement, operational excellence, and patient outcomes. This highly collaborative position is ideal for a physician leader who enjoys team-building, process improvement, and championing healthcare innovation in community-based settings.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and oversight across assigned Northeast markets
Partner with Operations, Clinical, and Executive leadership to support growth initiatives and strategic objectives
Mentor, develop, and support physicians and advanced practice providers
Lead quality improvement initiatives and champion high-quality patient care
Assist in developing, standardizing, and optimizing clinical workflows, protocols, and best practices
Monitor clinical performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness
Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention
Participate in clinical program development and implementation
Serve as a clinical ambassador and leader within Matter Health communities
Qualifications
Active MD or DO license
Board certification required
5+ years of physician leadership experience preferred
Experience leading providers or managing multi-site healthcare operations strongly preferred
Background in value-based care, population health, primary care, or community-based healthcare is a plus
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
Proven success driving operational improvements and clinical initiatives
Experience leading through growth, change, and organizational expansion
Willingness to travel throughout the Northeast region as needed (approximately 25–40%)
Preferred Qualifications
Multi-market or regional leadership experience
Experience serving underserved or senior populations
Medicare Advantage or value-based care experience
Familiarity collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Passion for serving vulnerable, underserved, or aging populations
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across clinical and operational settings

Partnering effectively with Regional Operations leadership to drive market performance
Supporting and developing physicians and advanced practice providers across assigned markets
Improving quality, patient outcomes, and provider engagement
Helping to scale Matter Health’s integrated care model throughout the Southeast
Serving as a trusted clinical leader, balancing operational excellence with compassionate, patient-centered care

Compensation Range: $250K - $350K
