Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Billing Director to lead and modernize billing operations across a multi-location healthcare group. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all billing functions, managing a team of billing managers, and driving process improvement across seven sites. The ideal candidate is a proactive, systems-oriented leader who can step into an established operation and elevate it — bringing structure, accountability, and innovation to a department that is ready for transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage billing operations across all locations, serving as the primary point of accountability for billing performance and accuracy

Directly oversee and support a team of managers, providing guidance, structure, and performance management

Oversee all spend management, including corporate credit card tracking and reconciliation across multiple cardholders

Partner closely with the billing department to ensure seamless coordination of accounts and workflows

Identify inefficiencies in current billing processes and lead initiatives to innovate and improve systems

Develop and enforce billing policies, procedures, and controls across all sites

Serve as the escalation point for complex billing issues, disputes, and compliance matters

Collaborate with IT and administrative leadership to streamline and automate billing-related functions

Provide regular reporting and visibility to senior leadership on billing performance, outstanding balances, and financial health

Required Qualifications

Proven leadership experience in billing operations within a healthcare, medical, or multi-location environment

Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and hold accountable a team of managers or senior billing professionals

Deep understanding of healthcare billing, coding, and revenue cycle management

Track record of driving process improvement and implementing operational change

Strong written and spoken English with confident, professional communication skills across all levels of an organization

Must have prior remote or hybrid work experience, be proficient with remote collaboration tools (Outlook, Zoom, or similar), and demonstrate the ability to self-manage across multiple locations. Applications without this experience will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in gastroenterology, primary care, or specialty medical practices

Familiarity with medical billing software and EHR/PMS systems

Experience leading billing transformation or system migration projects

Background in M&A integration or multi-site consolidation within a healthcare setting

Tools & Technology

Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite

EHR/PMS and billing software (experience specific to the organization will be discussed during onboarding)

Remote collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, or similar)
